  • John is a Chartered Professional Engineer (Electronics) with over 20 years’ experience as a Risk and Safety professional in the Rail industry with experience in the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

    After graduating with a BSc in Electronic Engineering, John joined Westinghouse Signals Ltd as a Graduate Safety Engineer. From there he went on to work at the Bombardier Rolling Stock manufacturing facility in Derby where he wrote the safety case for new rolling stock for the UK rail market. John later went on to become the Safety Manager for all Bombardier in-service fleets in the UK, which was over 1400 trains.

    John then moved to Melbourne and spent 5 years as a rail safety consultant for Interfleet Technology (now SNC Lavalin). Among the projects delivered were Independent Safety Assessor for the Waratah Trains in Sydney constructed by Downer and the Independent Safety Assessor for the fitment of Vigilance systems on the Comeng fleet of trains in Melbourne.

    For the past 7 years John has worked in Auckland, New Zealand, with roles including Safety Engineer for the new electric trains for Auckland and Senior Safety Assurance Engineer on the City Rail Link Project to construct a new 3.6km Tunnel through the centre of Auckland. John is currently GM – Safety & Assurance at Transdev Auckland when he manages a team of Safety professional to delivery world class safety performance on the Auckland metro rail network.
